HEARING LOSS – COMMUNICATIVE EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE AND THEORY OF MIND
This research aims to study the levels of development that hearing loss children and adolescents achieve in a very specific skill: theory of mind. Once this goal has been met, the variables affecting the development of this skill and the educational intervention to be applied to stimulate its proper development are analysed.
The skills involved in the development of theory of mind include things like the ability to understand the existence of mental states (desires, beliefs), the ability to attribute those mental states not only to oneself, but also to others, the ability to understand that mental states can be true or false, and to be able to use this skill in predicting the behaviour of others.
